September 15, 2020 by val dolbel

Watermelon Aloe Slushy For Glowing Skin

If you are looking for nourishing ways to hydrate on a hot day, then this watermelon aloe slushy is a perfect choice! It is super hydrating and full of beautifying vitamins and antioxidants. It also looks pretty and tastes like summer!

Aloe vera is one of the oldest healing remedies. It’s rich in vitamins, enzymes, minerals, lignans, salicylic and amino acids. It’s well known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties. When taken orally, it helps to soothe the gut and has been proven to increase collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

Watermelon is one of the most hydrating fruits in the world! And one of the unique sources has readily available cis-isomeric lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from photo-damage and environmental pollutants. It is also rich in Vit C, carotenoids and flavonoids. Combined with strawberries that are also high in antioxidants and ellagic acid, they make a powerful duo which fights to prevent collagen destruction.

INGREDIENTS:

watermelon aloe strawberries

Small or medium size of fresh aloe (washed and cut)

2 cups of frozen seedless watermelon

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

pink slushy in a glass

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare the aloe by cutting off the spiky top and sides and the leaf’s white bottom. Then slice off one side of the skin lengthwise using a vegetable peeler or knife, working from top to bottom.
  2. Cut the gel into cubes and rinse them to wash off any yellow latex residue.
  3. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Moringa possesses many-valued compounds such as pr Moringa possesses many-valued compounds such as proteins, vitamins and minerals, making it a great addition to your diet. The leaves are rich in B-vitamins, vitamin C and vitamin E, along with calcium, iron and zinc. Interestingly, Moringa is said to provide 7 times more vitamin C than oranges, 10 times more vitamin A than carrots, 17 times more calcium than milk, 9 times more protein than yoghurt, 15 times more potassium than bananas, and 25 times more iron than spinach. (See the reference below.) It is also rich in powerful antioxidants like carotenoids, flavonoids and phenol, which may help protect cells from damage and decrease inflammation. I like to add Moringa to my smoothies and matcha to boost my nutrient intake for the day. (Swipe 👈🏻) It tastes like something in between matcha and spirulina but spicier. Good enough taste for such a valuable addition! PMCID: PMC8373516
