Who doesn’t love a good smoothie bowl? I wasn’t always a fan of smoothie bowls, as I prefer drinking my smoothie, but my love for smoothie bowl grew because of my son. I’ve noticed that whenever he had a choice to have a smoothie bowl instead of a regular smoothie, it always was a fun and a more quality experience for him and us parents.
The whole process is straightforward, but you can be creative and play with different fruits, superfoods and toppings to build the perfect smoothie. Down below, I’m sharing with you one of my favourite recipes full of anti-ageing and skin-loving antioxidants and nutrients. Also, I have to mention that the creamy texture is super satisfying, and you don’t want to rush with it but make each spoon last!
Red dragon fruit is the main ingredient, and it’s very high in fibre, low in calories, rich in Vitamin C, beta-carotene, lycopene and betalain. Studies suggest that diets high in antioxidants can prevent the skin’s oxidation caused by free radicals by protecting the skin, reducing pigmentation and fine lines.
1 frozen red dragon fruit
4 frozen bananas
1 cup frozen mulberries (or any frozen berries)
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 tbsp cinnamon powder
1/2 cup of plant-based milk
- Add all the ingredients to a blender. Don’t add all the milk at once. Add half at the start, and then add more if required.
- Blend at high speed. You want to aim for a texture of soft-serve ice cream.
- Top your smoothie with any of your favourite toppings like fresh fruit, nuts and seeds. I used fresh blueberries, white sesame seeds and whole-grain granola.
- Enjoy immediately!
