One of the main differences between youthful and mature skin is that youthful skin has a high water content, which makes it retain its resilience and flexibility. As you know, most of the human body is water, and our skin is 64% water! And as we age, we lose water from our cells, which leads to decreased skin thickness and loss of elasticity.
Some studies suggest drinking more than two litres of water daily can significantly impact skin physiology. That’s why infused water, or SPA water, can be so helpful in keeping you on track with your water intake.
Water infused with fruit and herbs will help you to increase your water consumption while delivering many essential vitamins and minerals to your cells.
There are no rules for SPA water; to the jar with water, add any fresh ingredients on your hands, stay overnight in the fridge and enjoy the next day
I like to go for oranges, limes, lemons, mandarines, pomegranates, berries, lemongrass, cucumber, and ginger, along with any aromatic herbs I can find in the fridge. Chia seeds are also a great ingredient to add to your SPA water to boost your fibre and nutrient intake.
I created three different SPA water types for this recipe to give you an idea and inspiration to make the best-tasting water. All these ingredients are accessible and full of essential nutrients for healthy skin.
Please note that the amount of the ingredients displayed in the photo is exaggerated, so if you only have one or two ingredients, it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying refreshing SPA water at home.
