Who doesn’t love a good smoothie bowl? I wasn’t always a fan of smoothie bowls, as I prefer drinking my smoothie, but my love for smoothie bowls grew because of my son. I’ve noticed that whenever he had a choice to have a smoothie bowl instead of a regular smoothie, it was always a fun and quality experience for him and us parents.
The process is straightforward, but you can be creative and play with different fruits, superfoods and toppings to build the perfect smoothie. Below, I’m sharing with you one of my favourite recipes full of anti-ageing and skin-loving antioxidants and nutrients. Also, I have to mention that the creamy texture is super satisfying, and you don’t want to rush with it but make each spoon last!
Red dragon fruit is the main ingredient, and it’s very high in fibre, low in calories, and rich in Vitamin C, beta-carotene, lycopene and betalain.
Berries are also high in antioxidants, making them one of the best foods to fight oxidative stress, potentially protecting the health of your cells and preventing cancer initiation and progression.
Studies suggest that diets high in antioxidants can prevent the skin’s oxidation caused by free radicals reducing pigmentation and fine lines
Antioxidant Dragon Fruit Berry Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients
- 1 red dragon fruit frozen
- 4 bananas frozen
- 1 cup mulberries frozen
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 cup almond milk
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a blender. Don’t add all the milk at once. Add half at the start, and then add more if required.
- Blend at high speed. You want to aim for a texture of soft-serve ice cream.
- Top your smoothie with any of your favourite toppings like fresh fruit, nuts and seeds. I used fresh blueberries, white sesame seeds and whole-grain granola.
- Enjoy immediately!
