What is a beauty diet? What foods to eat for supple, healthy skin

Poor nutrition is one of the biggest causes of premature ageing along with chronic sun exposure, smoking, pollution, dehydration and sleep deprivation. From my personal observations, I noticed that most leading health experts agree that 80-90% of skin ageing is thought to be caused by diet and lifestyle. Prevention is the best and most effective way to work against extrinsic ageing caused by these environmental factors. 

A balanced nutritional diet rich in hydrating foods, high in antioxidants, and low in glycotoxins (AGEs) can influence the way our skin ages and the way we look at the food its purpose. Mother Nature provided us with all the essentials to thrive and age gracefully, so why not take advantage of it?

Humans live a hectic lifestyle, and most struggle to keep up with daily fibre and minerals intake. That’s why smoothies are the easiest way to do so, and they will also help to step up your wellness game noticeably. If you are new in this movement and get overwhelmed by all the options and recipes available out there, remember that even the most common ingredients will work. For example, our everyday smoothie recipes depend on the location and the season, of course. When we lived in Thailand, we used a lot of juicy mangoes and pineapples. In Bahrain, we had to make good use of apples and bananas. In Spain, we are currently lucky to enjoy a great selection of berries, making a fantastic base for any smoothie. So the moral of this is, take what’s available and get creative.

Interestingly, Moringa is said to provide 7 times more vitamin C than oranges, 10 times more vitamin A than carrots, 17 times more calcium than milk, 9 times more protein than yoghurt, 15 times more potassium than bananas, and 25 times more iron than spinach.
